Nerf toys have been around for over 50 years, but their most well know toys are their Nerf Blasters, which have been increasingly popular since the 90’s. Nerf Blasters are toy guns which fire foam projectiles using a locking spring, or motorized spinner as the power source.
Traditionally, Nerf guns have been most popular with young boys ages 6 to 14 years old. There’s various games you can play with Nerf toys, including Tag and Capture the Flag. Often times, just firing foam darts at each other with no other purpose is enough for hours of entertainment!
Since the projectiles are made of foam and very light, they don’t cause any harm if you get hit. They are also unlikely to damage any other objects inside the home, unless they were to knock an item off a high surface. It’s always best to wear eye protection when playing with Nerf guns, as the eyes are the sensitive to damage.
Since Nerf guns have exploded in popularity, there’s a wide variety of different models on the market. A lot of research goes into finding the best Nerf guns for 2016, as no one wants to buy the wrong model and find themselves overwhelmed in the middle of a Nerf war!
One recent addition to the Nerf line of products is the Nerf Rebelle series, which is designed specifically for girls. These Nerf Blasters use different color schemes, like lavender, pink, and soft blues. They also have lots of “secret keeping” gimmicks, like darts that contain secret messages and codes being required in order to operate certain Blasters. The result has been an increased interest in the Nerf series for girls, who may come to find they actually prefer the standard Nerf line of products anyways, as there are more choices as of today.
